ABOUT THE RESUME AGENCY
The Resume Agency was founded Brittany Applegate and is based in Chicago, IL.. In 2013, Brittany worked as a recruiter at a staffing agency as a professional services recruiter. Understanding first-hand which resumes were most likely to pass through tricky applicant tracking systems and which resumes were worth a call for an interview - she began editing resumes for other professionals to position them for the opportunities they desired most.
Today, the Resume Agency includes a small team of resume writers, editors, and proofreaders who are trained to write resumes that are results-driven, modern in style, and optimized for applicant tracking systems and other sourcing tools. Collectively, they’re written nearly 1,000 resumes, cover letters, curriculum vitaes, and LinkedIn profiles. They’ve helped hundreds get hired and promoted at job across industries, and are committed to diversifying talent pipelines.

Brittany Applegate
Brittany is the founder and CEO of The Resume Agency. Having worked as a recruiter right out of college and understanding the candidate sourcing and review process, she learned a lot about what a resume needs (and doesn’t need) for a recruiter to notice of a potential fit. Passionate about helping others find employment, she began revamping resumes to help everyone make their first, best impressions. Brittany is a graduate of Illinois State University, entrepreneur, workshop facilitator, and lover of all things branding and professional development.
Melissa Carter
As a lifelong learner, Melissa works full time as a marketer in higher education. Her love for resume writing derives from her passion to help others secure their dream jobs with confidence. In addition to being a Marquette University Alum, she’s currently pursuing her Masters degree in Marketing at DePaul University. Known for being a quintessential Chicagoan, music, reading, art, food, podcasts, and a good random fact summarize her love languages.
